Serious question: does your bathroom make you smile? Our tiny, like tiny, apartment bathroom has no windows (and therefore no plants), a dark floor, and well, not much else. The shower curtain and a cute bath rug are about the only ways to jazz things up, as a renter, anyway. I thought a white one would brighten the space, but with our long hair gray kitty around it didn’t stay white for long. Frustrated, I bought a lavender one, which immediately faded into this putrid purple-yellow tone. SO I REOPENED THE SEARCH… and soon landed on a smorgasbord of cute bath rugs to choose from.

I’m determined to find the perfect one, even if I have to spend real adult money on it or ship it in from Australia. I figure a vibrant print or pattern will distract from any unsightly wear and tear, so I’m leaning toward a tufted abstract rug like this punch needle bath rug from Annemade on Etsy, or perhaps the ever so slightly edgy, cute bath rug that’s actually from Victoria’s Secret Pink’s cannabis skincare line (wut?!). Or is that too college? Wait, when have I ever cared about that? (The heart bath mat above is actually Pottery Barn Kids.)
I think simple homewares like bath rugs are so often purchased as a functional essential without considering that they too can be artful little bits to spread cheer throughout your home. What do you think? What’s your bathroom situation?
