Colorful, Creative Art Installations + Event Displays

published on 4/21/23 by Angela Hamilton

Maybe it’s because it’s spring, but right now, I’m even more mesmerized by color than I usually am. (You saw my guide to colorful couches last week, yes?) Art installations can come in any color, form, material or size, but everything catching my eye as of late is color, color, color! And anytime I see my favorite materials like textiles, paper, or flowers (fresh or faux!) come together in an ethereal way like the artists below are to credit for, I’m reminded of the infinite ways humans can be creative, constructing worlds of our dreams in spectacular forms.

What’s really neat about the world of art installation, is that the maker can come from any background. They can be sculpture artists or event designers, crafters or weavers. A piece can be just as surprising and meaningful whether it’s exhibited at a museum or at a wedding or corporate event. Magic is everywhere, and the artists we’re rounding up below prove it (and then some). Now, for the most creative, colorful eye candy you’ll see today…

Recent artwork by Amanda Witucki climbing the walls at San Diego Museum of Art’s Art Alive event (a closer peek here)… What a gorgeous display.

Native Poppy floral art installation at San Diego's Art Alive

Natalie Gill and the team at Native Poppy transformed the museum rotunda with this pink large scale floral installation that I think I would have just fainted if I had gotten the chance to admire in real life!

Rainbow art installation by Corrie in Color

Corrie in Color is a Los Angeles based creative studio by Corrie Sullivan specializing in incredibly vibrant event and interior installations using anything from ribbons (above) to acrylic cut-outs (below) to paper, tassels, and so much more.

This ceiling install featured custom neon acrylic sculptures to illuminate a white loft party space. I’m truly mesmerized! (photo by Diana Feil Photography)

Paper bananas art by Momoca

Paper bananas sculptures by Momoca

Momoca, a paper artist and muralist from Japan, creates paper plants, altars, murals, and event decor. Every single piece is truly one of a kind! I love these paper banana sculptures.

This faux floral chair by Post Creative is actually a design you can order custom for your own space! They also offer floral kits for you to DIY your own hanging floral art installations.

Juliette Sallin fiber art install

Swiss artist Juliette Sallin works with fiber and botanical inks to create abstract silk sculptures like this work-in-progress photo from the Florahealing collection. Some of my favorite hues!

Yellow ceramic gingko leaf wall hanging by Anastasia Tumanova

California based ceramicist Anastasia Tumanova creates nature inspired and botanical wall hangings like this yellow gingko loom. Love seeing art inspired by the patterns of nature.

faux flower mantel floral installation by @brightlyeverafter

Rainbow faux floral doorway installation by Brightly Ever After

Brightly Ever After proves that faux flowers can be just as creative and beautiful with installations like the fall mantel piece and this rainbow doorway arch!

macrame and fiber art hangings by Ixchel Yué

Guadalajara, México based Ixchel Yué of pluumbago creates stunning fiber installation, event decor and retail displays using macrame and other weaving techniques.

Floral hanging sculpture by Studio de Pasquale

Okay, one more floral-based art installation because I couldn’t pass up sharing Valentina Teinitzer De Pasquale of Studio de Pasquale‘s incredible hanging floral sculptures at Calwer Passage in Germany. This is only one of the colors that suspend above shoppers as they walk by… Find more here!

Lamp sculpture installation by Léa Mestres

We shared these life-size lamp sculptures from an installation by French designer Léa Mestres on Insta the other day because they are just too cool. Each has their own name and personality. Here’s another photo for scale.
