I live in a city apartment and for the most part, love my little abode. But when summer rolls around, I find myself wishing I had just a slice of outdoor space where friends could gather around a bright maximalist table full of fresh flowers and colorful plates. I love to set a table, make my own centerpiece from farmers market flowers, and break out basically every nice piece of dinnerware that I own to put together all at once. Lately, our friends group has been very busy with chaotic schedules and growing families and travel and careers and all of the things that life in your 30s brings, but I do hope a few of us can get together for a fancy-ish brunch before summer ends! In any case, here is a smattering of the prettiest, most colorful plates to dress those summer tables, whether it’s a holiday, birthday, or just the beautiful occasion of being able to gather with friends you haven’t shared a meal with in a while.

Wouldn’t these plates look stunning as their own mis-matched collection displayed all at once? I truly can’t wait to set my next pretty table. It used to be a simple hobby of mine, inspired by my work in the wedding industry. (When you see gorgeous tablescapes and the dreamiest of blooms everyday, you just want to break out the good stuff. Even if no one in generations of your family has ever set a formal table.) Now, I see it as a chance to make little reunions with friends all the more special.
