Sometimes we have no other reason to write a blog post other than just to tell you how much we love a product or design. This is one of those times! We came across Mattina Moderna on Instagram a couple of years ago, and instantly fell in love with their repurposed vintage lamps offered in bright candy colors and paired with super trendy patterned lampshades. (This lamp called Sour Candy was our first save!) Since then, this mother-daughter team has been collaborating to produce hand-painted lamps and artisan made lampshades in the south of France. These one-off, upcycled vintage pieces have evolved into limited drops of handmade, handpainted ceramic lamp collections.
The upcoming collection, Caramella, features the same signature Mattina Moderna style – simple patterns, bold color – with a new silhouette. Above is actually a 3D rendering of the project.
But for now, you can still shop what remains of the Ombrellina collection, featuring a big check pattern and complementary lampshades.
These Mattina Moderna lamps are definitely our favorite take on the checkerboard trend.
