Happy New Year, friends! We were pretty quiet here on the blog during most of the last season… It just so happened that our freelance projects lined up with the holiday frenzy that is owning a shop, and, oh yeah, Jenn also had a baby! So there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes here at wallflower, but we truly love talking about what inspires us. It’s our favorite form of self care. So to kick off the new year, we will be having all the fun with trends! And what better way to begin than talking the Pantone Color of the Year 2024: Peach Fuzz.

pantone color of the year 2024: peach fuzz
I think I was well into my 20s before I ever heard about the coveted Pantone Color of the Year. Now I can’t imagine getting through December without the big reveal. I love to mix and match color, so it’s challenging for me to consider just one color as the IT hue. But that’s something I’ve learned to love about Pantone. There are years when the color comes out, and my eye isn’t instantly drawn to it. But over the year I see all the ways other colors play and coordinate, and it’s fun to create palettes I wouldn’t have thought of.
This color instantly reminded me of late 80s, early 90s fashion and decor, art deco revivals, brass and gold accents, satin and velvet. Deep olive and emerald greens come to mind, not to mention frosted and depression glass and pearlescent accents. I think this vintage book, Living with Art, reps it beautifully.

This year, Pantone shared five curated palettes created with Peach Fuzz. I signed up for an account to view them and was pretty surprised by some of the combinations! Of course I gravitated to the more monochromatic pastel version Peach Plethora, which featured tones from tan to peach to coral and pink. The fashion collage above is similar to the vibe – though not quite as bright. With acetate and resin-based accessories everywhere again this year, hair accessories with swirling creamsicle vibes acted as a sort of peachy neutral.
I love all shades of pink, so curating a Peach Fuzz moodboard as challenging as this color has more orange tones than pink. I wanted to stay true to the swatch! (By the way, are you seeing these fun seashell coupe designs everywhere now? I suspect to see mass-produced versions of this trend everywhere come summer.)

favorite color pairing: lavender and peach fuzz
Perhaps our favorite combination of all, Pantone’s Peach Fuzz with lavender. Grown up pastels to brighten up a space, featuring both vintage and modern pieces. Which concept is your favorite?
