If you follow us on Instagram (and engage with our account enough to prevent Meta from hiding our content from you 🙄), you know that we’ve been working on opening up an online boutique for months now! It’s super exciting, as Jenn and I have worked together for years as freelancers and we can’t even count the amount of times we’ve sent each other inspiration with the message, “for when we have a shop one day!”. That day is finally almost here and we thought it would be appropriate to give you a preview of it! Here’s a few details on what we’ll feature in the upcoming wallflower shop, and what we’re all about!
The idea for our shop is based off of our blog (and the many blogs we’ve each written throughout the years), which is all about celebrating craft and design and joyful spaces. It’s kind of like our blog’s hall of fame–a curation of the products that inspire us the most, and that we feel will stand the test of time and become a staple in your home or life. For example, long after sharing some of our favorite design books for your coffee table, we’ve decided to offer a few of our favorites, from then and now, in the shop!
One of our very first partnerships is with an artist team in India who specialize in the ancient craft of block printing on cotton. I’ve become familiar with the process of Indian block printing and embroidery while connecting with shops through our project eco club and am just mesmerized by the technique and the result. We’ll be offering these 100% handmade napkins in super fun maximalist mixed sets.
The scalloped edges are just TOO good, aren’t they? We’ll also provide a linen version with solids and the same embroidered edging (see first photo in post).
Another favorite product of ours so far (and we have so many more on the way) are these handwoven baskets. Personally I love to use them as vases (just add a glass cylinder–if you don’t already have one it’s almost guaranteed to be at your local thrift shop!) but they’re great as utensil holders, planters, and whatever else you can dream up.
One of the prettiest books we’ve ever flipped through, La Vita è Dolce is a guide to tasty and beautiful Italian-inspired desserts, from cannoli to gelato to biscuits & more.
This photo was taking during our first lifestyle shoot. We wanted to show products in a real life at-home setting. Cozy, but elevated just so. As you can see, we’re very into pretty entertaining goodies around here! We’re working with a lovely ceramics vendor to provide porcelain plates–the blush and green is a favorite combination already. We’ll also have the coasters, candle holders, and table runner featured here.
An exciting moment as some of our first pieces of inventory arrived! Obviously had to test them out with my pink coffee table and pink rug.
Another fun challenge has been to find the perfect backdrops for product photos. I’ve always been a fan of handmade papers as backdrops, especially for flatlays, because they have the most gorgeous texture. We previewed a few different shades during our first shoot–can’t wait to see the photos and how they all turned out. It’s definitely something we’re DIY-ing as we go along, but we’ll get the hang of it!
Again, we’re going to have THE BEST books in the wallflower shop! Jenn totally nailed this collection.
Besides books, decor, and entertaining, we’ll also have accessories, jewelry, stationery, art work, and lots of other gift-worthy goods from our favorite makers around the globe. I hope you enjoyed this little preview! We’re currently working on adding the shop to our current website, taking lots of pictures, and figuring out logistics. We’ll keep you posted as we go, so be sure to sign up for emails (at the bottom of our website) or follow on Instagram for updates.
