I’m far too old to be shopping for my first grown-up bed, but the truth is I’ve never put much thought into the style of my bed, bed frame, or headboard. I never liked furniture that was super bulky or traditional, and for the longest time I thought it was either that, or a basic wooden frame. But lately I want my bed to feel more luxurious, like I do when sleeping in a fancy hotel. My mattress is lovely, it’s just the bed that needs the upgrade. And the curved headboard trend might just be the perfect mix of elegant and modern I need! Plus, I’ve been scrolling through Irem Erekinci‘s dreamy world of interior projects and renderings, so a headboard that blends seamlessly into the wall is looking like the chicest upgrade to me.
Striped bespoke headboard custom made by By Lydia in the UK
I love a textured linen or brushed velvet for a bed and they pair perfectly with a curved headboard design, whether it’s just a subtle softness, a scallop, or a wave. I’m definitely looking for something with a little pop of color, and here’s what I’ve found so far…

Bespoke & Custom Headboards
Of course, if I had the budget I’d go all-in on a bespoke bed or custom headboard like the ones I’ve been seeing on Pinterest and Instagram. I have a slight obsession with custom upholstery and wish it was more common here in the US to do… Therefore a few of these examples are from the UK (London interiors always make the most of bespoke fabric and wallpaper, don’t they?).
This bespoke pink headboard photo (via Sands Hotel) was already in our media gallery as we’re working on a beautiful hotel roundup! How lovely would it be to have such a beauty to rest your head on?
I think a good cream and black palette with lots of texture is the only thing that could take me from maximalist to minimalist. Custom wavy bed by Michelle Gerson Interiors. (photo by Marco Ricca)
Okay, this is also a hotel room, as apparently that’s where I’m getting my interior inspiration as of late. Which makes sense if you’re going for a luxury bedroom, right? Bespoke bed in Margate House Hotel, a boutique hotel in Kent, UK (and there’s more curvy headboards where this came from).
Then there’s this funky, green plush headboard as seen photographed for Greenhouse Interiors featuring the Australian home brands’ decor. Love the jewel-y shade of green!
