16 Australian Artists to Follow on Instagram

When we launched our creative studio in late 2019, we had no idea how inspired we’d be by decor trends and artwork out of Australia. Fresh on Instagram, we just kept finding ourselves following Aussie artists (along with those in our dream cities in Europe like Copenhagen and London). We’ve since found a lovely likeminded community here in the US, but the love of dreamy abstract Australian artwork and other design trends from a place some 8,000 miles away!

Monica Henry is a wool textile artist based in Geelong. Her large scale woven scenes are truly incredible!

Watercolor artist Lida of Belladonna Art, based in Melbourne, focuses on the beauty of nature to create ethereal, abstract works with lots of movement.

Still life and landscape painter Ally Spasic makes everyday scenes whimsical with soft color and texture building.

Oil painter Helen McCullagh celebrates flowers with vibrant still life depictions.

Contemporary Aboriginal artist Kathleen Brown of Ooalie Dreaming uses her connection to the land and the generations that came before her, as inspiration for storytelling through art.

Deb Chapman paints birds and they are just too charming! She paints them on canvas, pottery, greeting cards and more.

Misha Harrison is a 3D woodcut artist mixing wood, paint, and even textiles to create intricate floral and still life scenes.

We obsessed over the work of Australian artist Wanda Comrie on our Instagram and the brilliant jewel-toned shadow play in these works.

Kyralee Shields creates modern Aboriginal art in dreamy colorways on canvas and clay.

We love Jade Fisher‘s vibrant floral paintings that can’t help but boost your mood.

And if you like Jade, you’ll love Morgan Jamieson, who specializes in more abstract nature-inspired work in a similar bold palette.

Artist and pattern designer Hannah Katarski hand draws and paints delicate and detailed patterns that can be licensed for artwork, textiles, paper goods and more.

Prudence De Marchi uses color and texture to paint floral and abstract artwork.

Krubi Creative is a fine art shop by three Indigenous sisters celebrating their connection to the Gundungurra Nation through contemporary art. They offer ready-to-ship artwork and commissions.

To say that Leah Bartholomew has followed through on her mission to bring joy + color into the home is an understatement! Surprise surprise, we love her because of her strong focus on flowers and soft but vibrant color palettes!

Lastly, Rishelle Kent paints the dreamiest landscapes that we just want to jump right into.
